The MOC3012 optocoupler is an optically isolated triac driver that features a gallium arsenide (GaAs) infrared LED optically coupled to a silicon bilateral switch (triac). This device is designed for interfacing low voltage logic to 115/240 VAC applications, such as driving resistive and inductive loads including motors, solenoids, and lamps. Key Features:
    • Zero voltage crossing functionality to minimize noise
    • High input-to-output isolation voltage
    • Compact 6-pin DIP package
    • High peak blocking voltage: 600 V
    • Simplifies logic control of AC power
    • Safety and regulatory approvals:
      • UL approved
      • CSA approved
      • VDE approved (optional)
    Technical Specifications:
    • Package Type: 6-pin DIP
    • Isolation Voltage: 5300 Vrms
    • Forward Voltage (VF): 1.2 V (Typical)
    • Reverse Voltage (VR): 6 V
    • Continuous Forward Current (IF): 60 mA (Maximum)
    • Peak Forward Current (IFP): 1 A (Maximum, 1 µs pulse)
    • Power Dissipation (PD): 120 mW (Maximum)
    • Peak Blocking Voltage (VDRM): 600 V
    • Peak On-State Current (ITM): 1 A (Maximum, repetitive)
    • Holding Current (IH): 280 µA (Typical)
    • Critical Rate of Rise of Off-State Voltage (dv/dt): 600 V/µs
    • Operating Temperature Range (TOPR): -40°C to +85°C
    • Storage Temperature Range (TSTG): -40°C to +150°C
    • Soldering Temperature (TSOL): 260°C for 10 seconds
    Applications:
    • AC Motor Starters: Provides isolated control for starting AC motors.
    • Solenoid/Valve Controls: Controls AC-powered solenoids and valves.
    • Static Power Switches: Acts as an interface between logic and power switches.
